European Universities Water Polo Championship 2025 presented at the EUSA Convention and EUSA-FISU Seminar

The European Universities Water Polo Championship 2025, set to be hosted in the historic Croatian town of Vukovar, was prominently showcased at the EUSA Convention and EUSA-FISU Seminar, held from October 10 to 13, 2024, in Salerno, Italy. Salerno, the host city for the upcoming European Universities Games 2026, gathered over 100 participants, including representatives from the European Universities Sports Association (EUSA), the International University Sports Federation (FISU), and technical commissions, as well as organizing committees of various European university championships.

Representatives from Croatia made a notable impression during the event, actively participating in panel discussions and presentations. Among them were delegates from the Croatian Academic Sports Federation and University of Applied Sciences "Lavoslav Ružička" in Vukovar, including Associate Professor Dr. Sanja Gongeta, Vice Dean for Professional and Scientific Research and International Cooperation, and Dražen Pejić, President of the SUSVEVU Student Sports Association.

Their presentation emphasized the importance of the championship for Vukovar, underlining the city’s high-quality infrastructure, organizational readiness, and its potential to welcome Europe’s brightest student-athletes.

Strengthening collaboration through sports

The event in Salerno was more than a platform for promoting upcoming championships—it was an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and exchange ideas in the field of university sports. With a dynamic agenda of presentations, panel discussions, and sports activities, participants were able to forge stronger connections and share best practices for organizing events of this scale.

For Vukovar, this gathering provided an invaluable chance to showcase its readiness to host an event of international importance, blending the excitement of competitive sports with the city’s unique cultural and historical heritage.
