General Technical Meeting sets the stage for the European Universities Water Polo Championship in Vukovar

General Technical Meeting (GTM) for the European Universities Water Polo Championship took place at the Lavoslav Ružička Polytechnic in Vukovar, located just a short distance from the sports venue where the first training sessions had already begun earlier today.

The meeting gathered delegates from 7 universities representing four European countries, all preparing for this prestigious tournament, and was first greeted by Eszter Gulyas, EUSA Sports coordinator.

Milan Žvan, Chair of the Supervision Control and Arbitration Commission (SCAC), also greeted the participants, shared the mission and vision of EUSA, and encouraged fair play, exchange of experiences, and building friendships — the very foundation of EUSA events.

Marko Kunac, representing the Local Organizing Committee, expressed gratitude to all partners and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make the championship possible. He provided key points about the event’s organizational aspect and all the other important information, expressing excitement to see Vukovar shine as a proud host city.

Tamas Kovacs, EUSA Water Polo Technical delegate, presented the official rules and policies, match schedule, and provided detailed instructions regarding the training slots, match procedures, and safety measures to ensure a fair and smooth competition.

His deputy, Mihaly Subasitz, and Nenad Periš, the Local Organizing Committee technical delegate, provided support with regulations, schedule, and drawing.

Complete schedule and results can be found here.

As a reminder, the water polo championship officially starts tomorrow at 16 PM at the city swimming pool in Vukovar, with group matches scheduled Tuesday through Thursday. Quarterfinals are set for Friday, while semifinals and medal games await us during the weekend. The tournament will conclude with the final on Sunday, where the best European university teams will battle for the prestigious title.

Spectators are invited to support the athletes, with live coverage available on the official YouTube channel of the championship (@EUSAWaterPolo).
